The Bilbao Fine Arts Museum has been open for more than a century, during which time it has expanded its collection of artwork by the acquisition of works and the generous donation of significant pieces. The permanent collection consists of over 10,000 pieces, some of which are paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and applied arts. Among these categories of artworks are also works of applied arts. This enormous collection of patrimonial artefacts covers a time period beginning in the thirteenth century and continuing all the way up to the present day.

Stroll through the quarters for temporary displays and exhibits:

Because the infrastructure of the Fine Arts Museums in Bilbao currently allows for temporary exhibitions, visitors to the city will always have the chance to see new works as well as retrospectives during their time there. Its chambers have played host to exhibitions on famous masterpieces like El Greco, Pablo Picasso, and Rembrandt at various points in its history. You can purchase catalogues of previous shows at the shop; this is an excellent way to carry a little bit of art with you as a keepsake when you visit the museum.

You are in for treats if you are hungry:

The most recent important refurbishment that took place at the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum not only altered the art spaces, but also the other rooms that contribute to making a visit more comfortable. A café is located on the ground floor, and it has its own entrance. At this café, you can get breakfast, a snack in the middle of the morning, or even some pintxos or deep-fried squid on the weekends. Doa Casilda Park is an important location in Bilbao, and another one of its attractions is that it has huge windows that look out into the park.
