Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra (QPO), launched by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser in 2007 under the patronage of Qatar Foundation. It is one of the finest of the best symphony orchestras with a headquarters in Doha, Qatar. QPO, known for its fusion of Arabian and Western classical music, comprises over 100 musicians from the world and gave its maiden concert in 2008 conducted by the world-famous maestro Lorin Maazel. The orchestra regularly performs at the Katara Cultural Village Opera House and has gained international recognition with appearances in France, the United Kingdom, New York, and other places.
