The ever enchanting Jordan has always been a top go-to destination for travelers across the globe. Whether it’s the astounding Dead sea, Petra ruins, starry skies in Wadi Rum, or the plethora of adventurous activities, Jordan has it all! Another gem that absolutely fits the bell in Jordan is the lush canyon paradise, Ma’in Hot Springs.
Also known as Hammamat Ma’in, they are a series of hot mineral springs and waterfalls, located near the Dead Sea, about an hour’s drive southwest of Amman. The region contains a total of 63 springs at different temperatures, the water of which is known as ‘fossil groundwater,’ and is rich in minerals.
Get ready to get goosebumps every time you visit this place, seeing the sky-high mountains on either side with waterfalls elegantly falling over.
Exposure to lava fissures makes the water hottest, sometimes drifting between 140 and 180 degrees Fahrenheit. This heated water slides down and is collected in many different pools meant for public bathing. The mineral-rich water has been used as a natural remedy for all sorts of joint pain and skin conditions.
The luxurious Ma’in Hot Springs Resort and Spa is the main attraction of this region. Travelers, after their exhausting Jordan activities, visit this place to rejuvenate themselves and return home, recharged.
They have converted a cave and a swimming pool into a hot spa experience where you get the safety of a luxury property and a swimming pool and the therapeutic benefits of a hot spring.
Earlier, access to these thermal falls was unrestricted and free, but now the entry ticket is priced at 15JD.
It is a river canyon in Jordan that flows westward into the Dead Sea. The Wadi Nature Reserve is full of mountains, steppes, hot springs, and canyons, making it an awesome adventure travel destination.
Drive 5km from Ma’in Hot Springs to reach the Dead Sea Museum. Spending an hour here gives you a solid introduction to the geology, history, and environment of the Dead Sea.
Affordable and attractive! That’s Amman Beach for you. It is just 20 minutes away from Ma’in Hot Springs and is long and well-maintained. With so many amenities available, you can easily spend the entire day here.
It is a small open-air museum, which is a 40-minute drive from Ma’in Hot Springs. tExplore the remains of Byzantine churches with awe-inspiring ancient mosaics and other artifacts unearthed in the region.
Drive for 45 minutes from Ma’in Hot Springs and reach Mount Nebo, an elevated ridge of the Abarim in Jordan, approximately 710 meters above sea level. It is mentioned in the Hebrew Bible as the place where Moses was granted a view of the Promised Land.
After your desert drives, scuba dives, and exhilarating Jordan activities, go to Ma’in hot springs and experience bathing under the mineral-laden water flowing from these thermal waterfalls.
