One of the most well-known Lord Ganesha temples in Kerala is the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple. It is located in the center of East Fort in Thiruvananthapuram. Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple's original idol is a tiny statue of Ganesh with his right leg folded. Ayyappa, Durga, Nagaraja, and Brahmarakshas are among the other deities honored in the Pazhavangadi Maha Ganapati Kovil.

What to do at Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple?

  • Inside the temple, you can admire artwork depicting each of Lord Ganesh's 32 incarnations.
  • The sound of breaking coconuts in front of the shrine is constantly present, giving the impression that firecrackers are being let off. Two thousand five hundred coconuts are cracked daily in a little tank in front of the temple. The primary service of a coconut breaker is to help one to overcome difficulties.
  • If you want to please Lord Ganesh, you can also offer him his favorite food: Modak. The Ganapathy Homam is another essential offering to the Lord.
  • Like many others in India, this temple celebrates the Hindu festival of Vinayaka Chaturthi with considerable fervor. This festival is commemorated as Lord Ganesh's birthday, which is followed by an elaborate 10-day ritual.
  • Inside the sacred space, you will find not one but two statues of Ganesha. Both of them are incredibly heavy, but one is made of granite and the other is gold.
  • The people of Trivandrum regard this temple as one of the city's most significant landmarks. Typical of South Indian and Dravidian styles of architecture, this temple is an excellent example of both.
  • The Murajapam ritual takes place every six years in this temple and lasts for 56 days. Become a part of this ritual if you want to experience the best in celebration.
  • The significance of September's Ayilyam Nakshtram in Kanni Masam at the Pazhavangadi Ganapathy Temple cannot be overstated. The Nagas and the Serpents have their section where these celebrations occur in this temple. Special poojas and rituals are performed on the festival day to honor Nagaraja and Nagayakshi.
  • There are great places to eat within walking distance of the temple, including Panchali Restaurant, Venkadesa Bhavan, Villa Maya, Buhari Hotel Restaurant, Buhari Hotel Restaurant, etc. You may get authentic regional cuisine at these eateries.
